The first phase of MAPNA Group’s 50-MW Aqkand wind farm was synchronized to the national grid.
Located in Aqkand village, East Azerbaijan Province, the wind farm runs on turbines manufactured by MAPNA Generator Engineering and Manufacturing Company (PARS).
Upon completion, Aqkand wind farm will be able to generate 175 thousand megawatt-hours of power each year, enough to supply the electricity demand of 104 thousand households.
The fossil-free wind farm will also save 49 million cubic meters of natural gas and 38 thousand cubic meters of water per year, and prevent emission of 119,200 tons of pollutants.
